Playalinda Beach is reached from the south access by taking CR402, also known as Garden Street, from Titusville east to the beach. You can take steps or walk on a gently sloping wheel chair accessible ramp. Once you leave the visitor center and travel south, there are four more parking areas along Apollo Beach.Įach parking area has a ramp down to the beach. There are five parking areas on the ocean and four others within the coastal hammock. The road dead ended in fenced property that was the northern limit of Kennedy Space Center. One day I drove to the end of State Road A1A south of New Smyrna. I dreamed of buying an oceanfront lot in New Smyrna Beach. This area north of the Cape probably looks the same today as it was back in the 1500s when the Spanish galleons sailed by in the Gulf Stream. It is amazing to see this so close to the launch pads at Kennedy Space Center on Cape Canaveral. It is a pristine undeveloped shoreline, one of the few remaining on the east coast of Florida. There's no other place on the state's Atlantic coast that has 24 miles of continuous undeveloped white sand beach on an unspoiled barrier island. You will see none of that at Canaveral National Seashore. The Space Coast and New Smyrna have miles of developed beach with high rise condominiums casting their shadows over State Road A1A. The beach is located between Kennedy Space Center and New Smyrna Beach. Miami, South Florida, and Keys within 100 miles. ![]() Take a day, or two, or three, and immerse yourself in the beauty of natural Florida, the way nature intended it to be. You may see Florida scrub-jays, Southern bald eagles, wood storks, peregrine falcons, eastern indigo snakes, and manatees. We hope you encounter some of the threatened species who make their homes there. Look for beautiful flowers and the pollinators among them. Keep your eyes open for bobcats, raccoons, and more. There is an abundance of wildlife and wildflowers at Cape Canaveral National Seashore. Outdoor experiences include canoeing, kayaking, boating, hiking, camping, and historical trails. These include a barrier island, offshore waters, lagoon, coastal hammock, and pine flatwoods. ![]() Stop along the way to or from the beach and explore by car or on foot, some of Canaveral National Seashore ecosystems. Enjoy your day swimming, surfing, sunbathing, fishing, and bird watching. If you are lucky, you may meet a loggerhead, green or leatherback sea turtle who makes her nest in the sand or hatchlings as they make their way to the ocean. ![]() There you will meet some of the 310 species of birds found at Canaveral National Seashore, including migratory birds, who will enjoy the beach with you. Any of the boardwalks will lead you over the sand dunes where the ocean in all of its magnificence will appear before your eyes. There are 13 parking areas, each with its own boardwalk. As you drive parallel to the ocean, you will see sand dunes on your right. Take a trip to Titusville, go east on Garden Street, and continue driving east until you reach the beach. It is a part of Canaveral National Seashore. There is a little-known gem in Florida known as Playalinda Beach.
